  • Treat your pets with dignity I would like to give a special thanks to constables Jay Lester and Dave Pruden, bylaw enforcement officers with the City of Whitehorse, for their special interest and continual time committed to investigating the disposal of puppies I found in the garbage bins (Star, April 7).
  • Thank you to all The Canadian Cancer Society would like to thank those of you who made our Daffodil Days a great success:
  • Children suffered from the cruelty to animals as well ubject: Anilee Butler's letter, Star, April 10.
  • Iraq didn't threaten the U.S. Subject: Iraq body count.
  • Let's hope for more snow! In early December, All-Terrane Mineral Exploration Services promised to donate to a local charitable or community-based organization $5 for every centimetre of snow recorded at the Whitehorse airport from Dec. 12, 2005 to March 31, 2006.

  • Klein should show the Alberta Advantage How wonderful that business is booming in Alberta. Everyone here loves hearing about our $7.4-billion surplus and is delighted with their I-Pod cheques sent to them by King Ralph.
  • Abuse of dog made me sick I have a special place in my heart for animals, and when I heard people are abusing them, I pray the abuse has very serious consequences.
  • You reap what you sow! Subject: Energy, Mines and Resources Minister Archie Lang's miscue. I don't think minister Lang realizes that he has virtually assured a plebiscite on greenbelts in the Official Community Plan (OCP). He goes on to say he is providing a citizen with his democratic right.

  • Give us the dope! Bird flu and global warming share a common trait. They are both swept under the rug for fear of some phantom anarchy or collapse.
  • I stand in awe Re: 'Stranded men grateful for rescuers' Grit' (Star, March 17).
  • Lot speculation doesn't help There are many dimensions to the land use dilemma facing Whitehorse. For instance, there are several ads on a page in this week's Real Estate Guide insert in which the realtor encourages the block-purchase of several downtown lots to be held 'for future development'.
  • Teacher deserves some kudos Ed. note: this is an open letter to Dave Sloan, a Department of Education director of learning.
  • Concerned? Come out Tuesday Re: Yukon Energy blackout contingency plan and governance of Crown corporations.

  • Lang has retarded the process I just read Energy, Mines and Resources Minister Archie Lang's attempt at patronage or some other unknown reasoning with the Constant Developer, Daryl Novakowski (as in Constant Gardner) in Tuesday's Star.
  • His statements were insulting Re. the comment by Rick Karp, president of the Whitehorse Chamber of Commerce, that he was 'furious' that the minimum wage had been raised to $8.25 (Star, March 31).
  • Plate looks like road-kill to me Good on Jennifer Carson for explaining how Mr. Bill Barnie's logic comparing his raven licence plate to a car or a toaster didn't hold up (Star letters, March 31).

  • We are beginning to sound hysterical Ed. note: this is an open letter to Mayor Ernie Bourassa and city council. It is time the 'Great Greenbelt Debate' be put to bed. I have heard everything from Yukon Supreme Court action to cutting down all trees in Whitehorse and my own threat of an injunction in Riverdale.
