  • Wolves add to the Yukon's wonderment Ed. note: this is a letter to Premier Dennis Fentie; Environment Minister Jim Kenyon; Kent Jingfors, the territorial director of fish and wildlife; and John Russell, the territorial acting director of conservation officer services. In early January of this year, the territory became an emptier place when a fear-based decision was made and a total of nine wolves (that I know of) were killed needlessly.
  • Ban smoking until 9 p.m. Ed. note: this is an open letter to Mayor Ernie Bourassa and city council. As the debate over the smoking bylaw continues, I urge you to consider other options over a total ban on smoking.
  • City councillors: indicate your priorities Ed. note: this is an open letter to Whitehorse city councillors Doug Graham and Dave Austin.

  • From 12,000 miles away, I must comment I feel I must first thank the Whitehorse Star for providing the only on-line version of its paper for Yukoners who have been forced to temporarily relocate due to the sad shape of the Yukon economy.
  • The authors are dead-on I'm not a separatist by nature, but I just finished reading The Day B.C. Quit Canada.
  • Restaurants, bars should share the pain Re: reconsideration of smoking bylaw, Whitehorse Chamber of Commerce member survey.
  • Bridge scheme appalling' As a Yukon citizen, I am appalled at the Yukon Party's decision to build a bridge in Dawson (Star, Feb. 18).
  • Our own desires will prevail Former Saskatchewan premier Grant Devine's application to seek the nomination as a candidate for the new Conservative Party was refused, not by the those elected by the 'grassroots' but by an appointed interim committee.
  • Their treatment is scandalous The Whitehorse Star must be commended for using the media as a tool for social development.
  • We only want some protection Ed. note: this letter is from a 12-year-old Whitehorse girl whose identity is being withheld.
