  • Endorsing abortion mortally sinful' Speaking out as a Catholic, since the clergy will say and do nothing from the pulpit, I want to express, as voters, that Catholics are under an obligation to avoid voting for a pro-choice politician 'implicating themselves in abortion.'
  • Mr. Harper: why should I trust you? The only federal politicians I mistrust more than the Martin Fiberals are the Harper Republican Regressive Cons.
  • Correct this betrayal by voting Hartle Watching the antics of the various federal candidates and their supporters scrabble for choice places at the public trough has been quite an exasperating experience for me lately.

  • Festival organizers did a fantastic job Re: Watson Lake Music Festival. As the producer of the Farrago Music Festival, I would like to commend Watson Lake for putting together such a fine show this year.
  • Not voting encourages the incumbents This is in reply to Tom Nichol of Dawson City, who advocates abstention from voting (Star letters, June 22).
  • Don't let Jenkins fool you again! Klondike MLA Peter Jenkins has finally said publicly what the Yukon Party has been saying privately for months now: the proposed Dawson City bridge will be a P3 project. So just what is a P3 project?
  • We're witnessing a craven attitude I would like someone on city council to explain to me why, when you have a municipal bylaw prohibiting overnight parking in commercial spaces, such as the Wal-Mart parking lot, that is deemed an 'unenforceable bylaw', and when you can nail someone for driving a bicycle on the 'sidewalk' or without a helmet, well, that is very enforceable.
  • Vote against deceit, thievery The battle over LIEberal-inspired gun control nonsense has been a long haul but victory is within our grasp because of their overdue and forthcoming political walloping.
  • Bike rodeo went very well I am pleased to advise that on June 15, the Mayo detachment of the RCMP held its 12th annual bike rodeo.

  • We're living in a damaged democracy It has been said that there is no honour amongst thieves.
  • Our former party does not resemble yours, Mr. Harper Ed. note: this is an open letter to Conservative Leader Stephen Harper. The undersigned recently received membership cards in the Conservative Party of Canada. We didn't ask for these cards and we don't want them.
  • Your gesture was appreciated On behalf of the residents, staff and board of the Yukon Women's Transition Home (Kaushee's Place), I am pleased to express sincere thanks to the Vanier Catholic Secondary School Social Justice Club for their generous and thoughtful donation.
  • Habit shouldn't be promoted Subject: inappropriate promotion. On page 2 of your Monday paper, a headline reads, 'Woman drowns while tubing' on the Yukon River.

  • There are more urgent traffic needs In reference to the plans for the City of Whitehorse to create two roundabouts, let me suggest that this is a complete waste of time and money, energy and resources.
  • Harper deserves a chance Could we have reached only the tip of the iceberg in the billions of dollars of taxpayers' money that has somehow evaporated due to the corruption and greed which the Liberal government has made a way of life? Their history of cronyism and boondoggles is legion.
  • Alaskans sure appreciate their customers My sister and I would like to take this opportunity to thank Alaskan hospitality for a very memorable trip.

  • Let's implement tax breaks for all To our political leaders at election time: Here are two subjects that are important to me in this election. One is an economic strategy; the other is personal liberty.
  • Where should kids learn to ride bikes? Over the past few days, I have noticed strings of children (all with helmets and most with training wheels) riding the sidewalk with an adult leader down Alsek Road.
  • Ticket blitz felt like entrapment It is in regret that we find ourselves writing to you about this issue.
  • Don't legislate personal safety In response to recent letters regarding the use of bicycle helmets, I really think most people are missing the point on why some people find these laws so objectionable.
  • For God's sake, fight these dictators! When did the City of Whitehorse bylaw addicts become my surrogate mother?
  • A vote for Bagnell is a vote for Martin Contrary to what the Liberals and the CBC and the Globe and Mail are telling you, or are trying to get you to believe, this election is not about same-sex marriages or abortion or about some kind of 'hidden agenda'.
