Yukon Tree Services rout Div. 1 squash leaders 18-9

The top team in Div. 1 squash was no match for fifth-place Yukon Tree Services Tuesday night.

The top team in Div. 1 squash was no match for fifth-place Yukon Tree Services Tuesday night.

Three of four Yukon Tree Services members picked up wins over their Assante rivals at Better Bodies gym in Whitehorse.

Ehsan Idrees beat Mark Tubman 3-1, Victor Lavanderos downed Ben Grundmanis 3-0 by default, and Keegan Kwok finished off Drew Osborne 3-0 en route to the blowout victory.

Assante’s Michael Tilbrook downed Stephen Buckler 3-0 by default to round out the matchup.

Despite the loss, Assante continues to lead the seven-team standings by a wide margin.

The team’s 178 points are 25 points up on second place Earls Restaurant, who downed Aurora Geosciences 19-13 Tuesday.

Shahid Syed toppled Doug Thorseth 3-1, Gary Tanner edged Max Beauchamps 3-2 and Glenn Rudman beat Marc Jubinville 3-2 to lead Earls.

Rudman recently took the B division crown at the Darkest Night tournament held Jan. 23 and 24.

Substitute Grayson Peters was the lone Aurora player to nab a win, 3-1 over Tyler Nesgaard.

The third contest on the night saw Outside the Cube hammer Better Bookkeeping 21-5. The victory was a team sweep, with each of Lars Johansson, Peter

Mather (sub), Tony Radford and Jodi Tuton securing wins.

TSL Contractors Ltd. enjoyed the week off.
