A small contingent of athletes from Yukon’s Company of the White Wolf dominated the top of the podium at the Battle of Brooks last weekend.

Jose Martinez Amoedo, coach of the group, took first in the long sword.

Land Pearson was first in sword and shield.

Wade Ames, of Calgary, was first in polearm. The Company of the White Wolf teamed up for the 3v3 melee and also took the win in that event.

Brooks is a small town in Alberta, located about 200 km southeast of Calgary.

The weekend-long fair also featured jousting, a costume contest, a marketplace, performers and medieval food.

This is the first time Yukon fighters have competed in Brooks. In July, a group of Albertans attended the Company of the White Wolf’s tournament in Whitehorse.

The fighters / re-enactors from Edmonton, Calgary, and Lethbridge all enjoyed having the Wolves as competitors as part as part of the IMCF style tournament.

The good natured competition from groups across Canada will definitely help foster the best possible National Team as the sport continues to grow worldwide.
