Three bronze medals and and a pair of top 10 finishes was a nice way for Bronwyn Pasloski to conclude the 2008-09 swimming season.
The Yukon swimmer recently returned from competing in Montreal at the 2009 Canadian Age Group Championships.
The long course meet had more than 1,500 swimmers from nearly 200 clubs throughout Canada.
The meet is designed to give swimmers ages 12 through 18 the opportunity to race against the best athletes in their age group in the country.
Pasloski was one of the standouts, setting a new B.C. record in the girls' 15-17 age group, breaking 2:20 for the first time in the 200 IM.
The third place finish was her first medal of the competition.
"It was a really good race for me," she said. "I don't get to race IM that much, it usually conflicts with my breast stroke, so when I get to race it I have so much fun doing it. It was a bonus to medal."
Pasloski also won bronze in the 200 and 100-m breast and placed in the top 10 in the 50-m breast and the 100-m back stroke.
Twelve-year-old Isabel Parkkari competed at the Age Group Nationals for the first time. Parkkari's performance was highlighted by three personal best swims.
Competing in the girls' 12 and under category, she placed 11th, taking nearly 20 seconds off her previous best effort in the 1,500-m free. Parkkari also lowered her time in the 100-m fly by 25 seconds.
"There's not much more you can ask of her," Pasloski said abo
