Yukon slopestyle skier Etienne Geoffroy-Gagnon finds himself at the top of the podium after winning the Nor-Am cup competition in Calgary Alberta on Sunday.

Geoffroy-Gagnon won the competition with a high score of 86.91.

It was Geoffroy-Gagnon’s first time competing back in North America after competing in Europe as part of the Canadian team. While competing in France, Geoffroy-Gagnon made it through to the finals before coming in 13th.

His last race before heading back across the Atlantic was in Italy, where he qualified for the semifinals but did not manage to crack the top 10 for finals. He finished in 12th.

Geoffroy-Gagnon finished comfortably ahead of the second and third place finishers. Tim Ryan of the U.S.A was second with a score of 82.41. Canadian Edouard Therriault grabbed third with a score of 82.33.

When the Star last spoke to Geoffroy-Gagnon he was back in Calgary preparing for the Nor-Am cup. He said he felt more pressure competing back in North America.

“I feel more pressure because guys want to take my spot on the (national) team,” said Geoffroy-Gagnon. “I am just going to stick to my game plan and do my thing.”
