The Yukon Alpine Ski Team collected 12 medals in two days of Super G racing at Troll Mountain in Quesnel, B.C. , this past weekend.

Two speed events were held to wrap up a five-day speed camp attended by 11 members of the Yukon Alpine Ski Team.

On their way to collecting 4 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze medals, Yukon skiers reached speeds of up to 80 km/h and flew over 20 meters off a course jump.

Sammy Kent, currently the top-ranked male skier in the B.C. Alpine Northern zone, led the Yukon men's team with two gold medals in the K2 age category and had the fastest time over all on Saturday.

The other Yukon K2 skiers Patrick Bell, Quinn Dennehy and Alex Peepre turned in solid performances with top 10 finishes over both days of racing.

In the J1 category, Sam Densmore picked up two silver medals closely followed by Ben Symington with two bronze medals.

Allison Furniss was the fastest female skier in the J2 category (17-18 age group) in both races and the fastest overall female skier for the second race, bringing home two gold medals.

Zoe Zimmerman finished second twice in her J1 category (15-16 age group) for two silver medals while Hannah Todd raced to a third and fourth place finish in the K2 category (13-14 age group) with Anya Zimmerman close behind in 4th and 5th place finishes in the same age category.

In the K1 category (11-12 age group), Raissa Anderson collected a silver medal and a 4th place finish.

Head coach Dick Eastmure was very pleased with the results of his skiers.

'The camp provided an excellent opportunity for Yukon skiers to learn in a controlled and safe environment how to race in speed events,' Eastmure said in a statement. 'And the results show that Yukon skiers are prepared to be competitive at the Arctic Winter Games'.

The speed camp and Super G races were organized by the B.C. Alpine Northern Zone and were attended by over 75 skiers from throughout Northern B.C. and Yukon.
