Yukon Quest International Association (Canada) chose the Yukon board of directors at its annual general meeting in Whitehorse Thursday and launched a recruitment campaign for Canadian executive director.

Two current board members were re-elected and four new members will join the team.

All appointments are for a two-year term. Re-elected members were Donna Clayson and Clarke Laprairie.

The four new board members joining the team are Bev Regier, Pamela Brown, Reinhard Semmel and Tamra Reynolds.

Regier is a longtime Yukon Quest volunteer and is a familiar face for many, as she also served as part-time office staff in previous years. Brown has been a fan for some time and last year volunteered.

She brings extensive experience with various boards and works for Yukon Parks.

Semmel is the founder of the Silver Sled Dog Race, and has spent eight years volunteering as an official on the Yukon Quest.

Reynolds works with a local engineering firm and is no stranger to the race or trail as she has acted as handler for eight years.

"We are very happy with the new members of the board. They bring a vast amount of experience and knowledge to the organization,” said president Al Doherty.

"A new board and our recruitment for a new executive director has started, we expect to put on another great race for mushers, fans and volunteers!”

Doherty, Harry Kern, Ken Cohoe and Joost Van Der Putten are all in the second year of their two-year terms, completing the seats on the Yukon board.

The Yukon Quest organization would like to extend its gratitude to outgoing directors Mike Kenny and Rolf Schmitt for their hard work and dedication as volunteers and board members.
