The Yukon Quest is among the candidates for induction for the Class of 2011 of the Alaska Sports Hall of Fame.

The Yukon Quest is being considered because of the positive impact it has had on the State of Alaska and its people.

It is on the ballot for 2011 because it was one of the top vote-getters from the previous vote in 2010.

The selection committee will announce the Class of 2011 Oct. 11th, 2010.

The public has an opportunity to vote for the event as part of the selection process.

The public vote makes up one ballot on the nine-member selection panel.

To vote for the Yukon Quest and other events that are candidates, visit http://www.alaskasportshall.org/vote.html.

The deadline to vote is Oct. 6, 2010.

The Alaska Sports Hall of Fame was established in 2004.

If selected, the Yukon Quest would join the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, the Great Alaska Shootout, the World Eskimo-Indian Olympics and the Midnight Sun Baseball Game as the only events in the Hall of Fame.
