The Yukon hasn't made the Brier Canadian Men's Curling Championships since 2008, and that's not going to change this year.

During the 2012 Yukon/N.W.T Men's Curling playdowns, held at the Whitehorse Curling Club last weekend, the local players were unable to overcome stiff competition from our neighbouring territory.

The top spots in the weekend tournament went to both territory's No. 2 teams, with the N.W.T's Team Koe, under skip Jamie Koe claiming victory, and the Yukon's No. 2 team, Team Solberg, under skip Jon Solberg taking second place.

The N.W.T's team Moss, with skip Steve Moss, took the third place finish, with last place going to the Yukon's team Hilderman, under skip George Hilderman.

The Tim Hortons' Brier, Canadian Men's Curling Championships, will be held in Saskatoon this year from March 3 to 11.

No Yukon women's rink chose to compete this year for the Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Canadian Women's Curling Championship.
