Play resumed last week in the local eight-ball league following the Christmas break.

League-leading Yukon Jack picked up right where they left off last year with a one-sided 8-1 thumping of the Cunning Stunts.

Top gun for Yukon Jack was Bob Edzerza with 76 points. The win stretched Yukon Jack’s lead in the standings to a full 13 points ahead of the second place Alpha Cues.

The Alpha Cues moved into second place in the standings with a 6-3 win over the stumbling Kids in the Hall who were clearly suffering the effects of overindulgence during the holidays.

The Alpha Cues were led by the inspirational Ed Lepp who posted his first perfect outing of the year with an 80-point performance.

Speaking of perfect performances, Carol Shorty of the Ramblin’ Rowdies also won all eight of her matches for an 80-point night. It was a good thing too as the Rowdies just squeaked by We’ve Got Balls with a 5.5-3.5 win.

Another squad that seemed to benefit from the two-week layoff was the Shockers who rang up a resounding 8-1 victory over Balls Deep.

The loss dropped Balls Deep into fourth place in the standings, a scant half point ahead of the Rowdies.

Mike Fraser led the way for the Shockers posting a 73-point night.

The biggest moves of the night, however, were reserved for Team Awesome and The Bad Goatees.

With their 6-3 win over Team Awesome, The Bad Goatees vaulted into the three spot in the standings while dropping Team Awesome from third to sixth.

Dave Scheer was top point-getter for the The Bad Goatees while Himanshu Thapar led the way for Team Awesome.

League standings as of Jan. 8 are as follows:

Yukon Jack 72.5

Alpha Cues 59.5

The Bad Goatees 59.0

Balls Deep 57.5

Ramblin’ Rowdies 57.0

Team Awesome 56.5

Shockers 53.5

Kids in the Hall 48.5

Cunning Stunts 46.5

We’ve Got Balls 29.5
