Yukon Inn wins oldtimers championship in thriller

For the second straight game, the Yukon Inn headed to sudden death overtime in Whitehorse Oldtimers Hockey League playoff action last Thursday.

For the second straight game, the Yukon Inn headed to sudden death overtime in Whitehorse Oldtimers Hockey League playoff action last Thursday.

While the first one was also important to keeping their playoff hopes alive they follow a double-knockout format this one was for all the marbles.

And for the second straight game, the Inn came away with the OT victory, making every single minute of extra effort worth it as they took the oldtimers championship 2-1 over the Klondyke Dental Molars.

Glen Heinbigner was the hero for the Inn in the extra frame, assisted by Dave Pearson.

It was Heinbigner and Pearson who led the way in the March 26 overtime playoff game ahainst the Performance Centre Turbos as well. Brian McWatters also hit the twine for the Inn, with assists credited to Greg Bull and Craig Steinbach.

Lance Bevllacqua scored the lone goal for the Molars, assisted by Larry Warner.
