Yukon Brewing capped an outstanding squash year with a Div. 2 championship Thursday night at Better Bodies Fitness.

After winning the regular season crown by a whopping 43 points over runner-up Bluewave Energy, Yukon Brewing took the playoff championship last night with a dominant 19-9 victory over their main rivals.

The championship began with a battle of substitute players, as Yukon Brewing’s Mattaeus Geisler and Bluewave’s Scott Burrell were unable to attend the last match of the season.

Instead, Muhammad Idrees downed Tom Luxemburg 3-0 (15-13, 15-9, 15-5) in a battle of no. 3 players to stake Yukon Brewing to a 3-0 lead.

Bluewave no. 1 Sana Syed would get it right back in the second match of the night, however, besting Andre Benoit 3-0 (15-9, 15-13, 15-11) to knot things back up.

But it was all downhill from there.

The third match saw Yukon Brewing no. 4 player defeat substitute Mackenzie Cameron 3-0 (17-15, 15-9, 15-10) as Bluewave’s Erika Joubert also missed the championship contest.

And then Yukon Brewing captain Everett Igobwa capped the evening with another shutout victory over Bluewave captain Cathy MacDonald 3-0 (15-6, 15-11, 15-5).

In other action, Riverstone Dental Clinic beat Coast High Country Inn 17-9 to take third place.

Will Chetcuti and Brian Larnder teamed up with substitute players Ben Craigen and Etienne Geoffroy to get the win.

Final scores include bonus points for match win, referees and proper jersey usage.

On Tuesday, Aurora Geosciences edged Assante 16-14 to win the Div. 1 title.

The season wraps up next weekend with the Yukon Open.
