Tickets for the Western Hockey League game between the Vancouver Giants and Kamloops Blazers will go on sale this Saturday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at Sport Yukon, the local organizing committee (LOC) for Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada announced yesterday.
The regular season game will be held on Feb. 12, 2011, at the Takhini Arena. Doors will open at 2:30 p.m. with the puck drop at 4:10 p.m.
"We know that there are lots of people who want these tickets so we wanted to start selling early, " said George Arcand, Vice-Chair of the LOC.
"One-thousand tickets will be released in a first wave on Saturday, December 4th but don't worry, if you miss out this Saturday, a second wave of tickets will be released in early January 2011.”
Tickets are priced at $30 and there is a limit of two tickets per person. The limit per person is to allow as many people as possible to have access to tickets. A detailed outline of the ticket policy, pricing and access can be found at www.hockeyday2011.ca.
"This game is the first of a series of activities and events both free and ticketed that will be announced by our committee,” said Walter Brennan, Chair of the LOC. "We are really going to put on a great event for all Yukoners showcasing Whitehorse and the Yukon. As events and schedules are finalized they will be updated on the website so make sure you check back often!”
Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada merchandise can also be purchased at Sport Yukon beginning at 11 a.m. this Saturday.
Scoitabank Hockey Day in Canada activities are expected to run from Tuesday, Feb. 8 to Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011 and will include such events as the WHL game, hockey clinics, shinny games, Stanley and Memorial Cup visits and Alumni games.
The event is a partnership between Sport Yukon, City of Whitehorse, Yukon Convention Bureau and the Yukon Amateur Hockey Association.

Rush seating? Are you freakin' serious? Rush seating brings out the worst in people who think they can reserve seats for their friends with a coat draped over 2 or 3 seats.
Why not take advantage of modern technology and actually sell the seats by section, row and seat. It certainly makes for a much more enjoyable event. Further, the organizers could then make sections (between the blue lines) premium seats at an addition cost.
I'm a huge hockey fan but no way am I going to subject myself and my kids to a shoving match for a decent seat.
