Whitehorse was a common name at this past weekend's Buckwheat Ski Classic, as nearly every division was dominated by the city's skiers.

Coming off the heels of the Haywood Ski Nationals that were held in Whitehorse just over a week ago, it seems Whitehorse's many talented skiers never get tired of being on top.
Whitehorse's Knute Johnsgaard placed first in the 50-kilometre classic race, ahead of Graham Nishikawa, who recently returned to the Yukon after his stint on the World Cup
circuit in Europe.
In third place was John Parry of Fairbanks, but the entire field was dominated by Whitehorse skiers to 13th place.
In the 50-km women's race, Olympian Madeleine Williams topped Yukoner Emily Nishikawa by 11 seconds for first place. Taking up third and fourth place from Whitehorse
were Brittany Greer and Pippa Lawson.
In the 25-km men's classic, Whitehorse skier earned first through 12 place, with only Anchorage resident Brian Erikson interrupting the streak for second place.
Chris Schmidt earned first place, with Trevor Bray in third.
Whitehorse's Dahria Beatty was once again on top in the women's 25-km classic race, ahead of Kendra Murray, also of Whitehorse with just seconds between the two.
The women's 25-km race's standing were entirely made up of Whitehorse skiers until 32nd place, when Betsy Fisher of Juneau, Alaska finished behind Whitehorse's Pat
McKenna.
In the 10-km men's race, Calean McLean was first, followed by Tom Ullyett and Ian Hogeboom-Burr. All three are from Whitehorse.
In the 10-km women's classic, Whitehorse skiers were all in the top 10, with Sheri Hogeboom earning first place, followed by Natalie Oles and Brooke Land Murphy.
An all-Yukon top nine was the result for the 10 and under boys 5-km classic race.
Nichollis Schmidt of Whitehorse placed first, just 13 seconds ahead of Micah Taggart-Cox from Marsh Lake. Romeo Champagne of Whitehorse was third.
In the 5-km girl's under 10 race, Hannah Skier placed first, followed by Savannah Cash and Jetta Bilsky. All three girls are from Whitehorse.
The final race was the 11-12 girls five-km classic.
Natalie Hynes edged out Ingrid Janzen for first place, with Janzen securing second, and Aline Halliday finished in third place.
The Buckwheat Ski Classic was the final event of the year for the Whitehorse Cross Country Ski Club.
