The Whitehorse Minor Soccer action is heating up as the indoor season begins to wind down in preparation for the outdoor season.

The boys and girls in the league are preparing for the Yukon Championships March 26-28 that mark the end of the lengthy indoor season.

Minor soccer will then take a month long break before the outdoor season begins.

Hanne Hoefs from Whitehorse Minor Soccer said the Yukon Championships have drawn teams from the communities as well as many from Whitehorse.

As of this time, Hoefs is unsure exactly how many teams will be taking part.

"It should be exciting,” she said.

After this week, soccer will take a two week pause for spring break, and return for the final weeks of the season until the tournament.

Starting March 20, registration for the outdoor season will begin, overlapping with the final days of the indoor season.

Hoefs encourages parents to register early as it helps organizers with the task of getting teams put together quickly in the month between the seasons.

"It's so important especially for the outdoor season that people register early,” Hoefs said.

Registration for the outdoor season will be open until April 1, and can be done at Sport Yukon.
