On Feb. 1, the Whitehorse Cross Country Ski Club will launch the first session of Whitehorse Ski S'cool, sponsored by Subway.

To date, 12 classes from six Whitehorse schools and more than 200 students have registered for this year's program.

In previous years, Ski S'cool was offered by Cross Country Yukon with one or all of the three lessons taking place in the school playgrounds. This year, the program for all Whitehorse elementary schools will be coordinated and implemented by the cross-country ski club, and all lessons will take place in the club's ski stadium.

This will ensure that all students receive the same high quality program in the best skiing conditions.

Holding sessions on the club trails at Mt. McIntyre ensures that there will be a good variety of terrain and provide high quality, exciting lessons.

The goal of the program is to expose primary students to the FUNdamentals of cross country skiing through game-focused lesson plans.

Lessons will be taught by certified instructors, and all students will receive a $3 gift card from Subway.

Submitted by the Whitehorse Cross Country Ski Club.
