Whitehorse was recently awarded its third International Softball Federation (ISF) tournament – the 2014 Junior Men's World Championship.
In a joint bid with Softball Yukon, Softball Canada was awarded the 2014 event at the ISF Congress in Oklahoma City last weekend.
The Yukon capital is also set to host the 2012 Women's World Fastpitch Championship from July 13-22. Previously, Whitehorse hosted the Junior Men's World Championship in 2008.
"We are thrilled to be chosen as the host city for another world-class event,” Soft Yukon executive director George Arcand said.
"It's certainly going to be a busy couple of years in Whitehorse. We look forward to hosting all of the athletes, as well as the coaches, officials and fans from around the world.”
The 2008 Junior Men's World Championship featured 12 teams, including Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Venezuela, Mexico, Argentina, South Africa, Denmark, Czech Republic and Botswana, as well as Canada and the United States.
Canada took home the silver medal.
"The success of the 2008 event gave us the support of the International Softball Federation and has allowed us to continue attracting events of this caliber,” said Arcand, who has been hard at work completing some major renovations at the Pepsi Softball Centre in Whitehorse.
"We know the 2012 and 2014 championships will only enhance our reputation on the world stage.”
Last weekend in Oklahoma City was a success for Canadian softball on another front.
Softball Canada was also awarded the 2015 ISF Senior Men's World Championship, which will be held in Saskatoon, Sask., and hosted by the Saskatoon Amateur Softball Association.
"We are delighted that the international softball membership has entrusted us to host these two championships,” Softball Canada president Kevin Quinn said.
"Both Whitehorse and Saskatoon are experienced hosts that have proven their ability to put on great events and combine that with warm hospitality for visitors.”
Parana, Argentina, will host the Junior Men's World Championship in 2012. New Zealand will host the Senior Men's World Championship in 2013.
