West Brom remains in danger of relegation after 0-0 draw at West Ham
West Bromwich Albion played to a 0-0 draw
LONDON - West Bromwich Albion played to a 0-0 draw at West Ham on Monday, a result that did little to lift the last-place club's hopes of staying in the Premier League.
West Brom remained rooted to the bottom of the standings, four points behind of 19th-place Middlesbrough and six behind No. 18 Stoke. But the visitors twice came close to producing a winner in the second half at Upton Park.
Shelton Martis, in his first Premier League start, headed Chris Brunt's cross against the crossbar, while Jonathan Greening later chipped over after finding himself in a promising position.
"I think I probably should have put my chance away and got us all three points," Greening said. "We knew it was going to be a difficult game. (West Ham manager) Gianfranco Zola has got them playing well, but I thought we did all right tonight.
"We've been working hard all season. It's difficult coming up from the (League) Championship but the boys have worked hard and we'll give it a good go until the end of the season."
