The 2009 Yukon School Soccer Championships were held over the weekend, and despite chilly weather the games were fast paced.

The Grade 7 students had a full schedule, with 11 teams competing for the top slot in the co-ed Championship game, ultimately taken by Whitehorse Elementary School.

The final match was between Jack Hulland Elementary, who challenged Takhini Elementary in the semi-finals, taking the game 4-0, and Whitehorse Elementary School, who beat Hidden Valley Elementary 2-0 to move into the finals.

Supporters from both schools packed the sidelines to cheer on the two final schools, as Jack Hulland came up scoreless against W.E.S. The final score was 5-0 for W.E.S.

The bronze medal game was hard fought between Takhini Elementary and Hidden Valley.

Takhini battled hard to keep up, but Hidden Valley managed to keep their final score out of reach, finishing with eight goals to Takhini's three.

The consolation games were played earlier in the day Saturday, with E.E.T. securing the fifth spot when they beat Selkirk Elementary 5-2 in the gold medal game.

C.K.E.S. team two played a familiar team, C.K.E.S. team one, with team two winning 3-2.
