Well Read Books grabs 23 points, climbs to third overall

Well Read Books picked up 23 of a possible 24 points last night, jumping from fifth place to third overall in the Thursday Night Squash League standings.

Well Read Books picked up 23 of a possible 24 points last night, jumping from fifth place to third overall in the Thursday Night Squash League standings.

The book club has a total of 140 points.

Whitehorse Travel took home 19 points and remains in first spot with a total of 180. Polarcom held onto second place with a total of 164 points, despite grabbing just 10 points last night. Walker LeBrun Creative Services rounds out the top four, walking away with 13 points for a total of 139.

Northwestel High Speed Internet had the bye this week, falling from third place to fith overall with a total of 133. Northern Lights Optometry sits in fifth spot, picking up 14 points for a total of 124. And the High Country Inn managed just one point last night for a total of 107. The Inn remians stuck in seventh place.

Winning their matches for Well Read Books were Kim Dolhan, Jane Bell, Sylvia McIntosh and Terri Aberson. Dolhan swept High Country Inn's Judy Ratcliff in three games while Bell, who was filling in for Sam Goodwin, beat Robert McMynn in three straight. Both McIntosh and Aberson won their matches by default.

Scott Roberts, Jon Ganter and Patti Flather were victorius for Whitehorse Travel. Roberts, who was filling in for Ashley Johnson, needed five games to defeat Polarcom's Sherri Wright. Ganter whipped Randy Fraser, who was subbing for Eric Irvine, in three straight while Flather sent Keltie Hollingdale home after three games.

David West was the lone victor for Polarcom. West took care of Stephanie Matchett in four games.

Jillian Rogers and Paula Pawlovich won their matches for Northern Lights. Rogers beat Elizabeth Skanes, who was filling in for Marie Cairns, in four games while Pawlovich got rid of Karen Clyde in three straight.

Karen Fast and Karen McNolty earned big points for Walker LeBrun. Fast swept Tracy Pittman in three games while McNolty, who was subbing for Diana Poole, defeated Lesley Cabott in three straight.

The Yukon will be participating at the men's and women's Squash Interprovincial Championships that are being held in Victoria this weekend, Jan. 23 - 25th.

The men's team will be; Blaine Tessier, playing #1, Mark Tubman playing #2, and Steve Fecteau, playing #3.

The women's team is Marcia Davidson, #1, Janet Lee, #2, and Lori Muir, #3.
