The Whitehorse Lions Aquatic Centre at the Canada Games Centre will be closed to the public from Friday at 4 p.m. until Saturday at 6 p.m.

The Ryan Downing Memorial Swim Meet is taking place this Friday and Saturday.

The meet is held in memory of Ryan Downing, a star Yukon swimmer who died tragically of heart complications when he was just 13.

The Whitehorse Glacier Bears will welcome the Haines Dolphins swim team for the first competitive event of the new season.

The pool will re-open on Saturday for a public swim with inflatable from 6 to 9 p.m.
