After breaking his wrist less than a month ago, Troy Henry returned to racing last Saturday in VeloNorth's Carcross Cut-off Time Trial.

Racing in ideal temperatures but having to battle a strong headwind on the return leg of the out-and-back course, Henry picked up were he left off by easily taking the victory some 53 seconds up on second place Mike McCann in the Men's Expert Class.

Heather Enders continued her domination of the Women's Expert field by posting a time two minutes and 30 seconds faster than second place Kelsey Kabanak.

Bob Bowerman won the Men's Sport Class by 25 seconds over David Gonda.

In the Women's Sport Class Trena Irving came out on top.

The Women's Recreational Class had Cassandra Kelly, Jackie Hynes and Suzan Davy putting up excellent rides in difficult wind conditions.

VeloNorth's next event will be held on Sunday and run from The Log Cabin, near the Canadian-U.S. boarder in B.C.

Registration starts at 10 a.m. in the parking lot. The race begins with a long downhill section that's about 12-km or 13-km in distance. The race itself is around 62-km.

Environment Canada is calling for warm and sunny conditions, which suits VeloNorth Cycling president Mike McCann just fine.

"Anytime when we have sun and warmth, I don't care how hot it is, just give it to me," he said. "At least a couple of time during the summer."

He said this is one of the more popular races for the club.

"I think it's fun, people enjoy finishing in Carcross," McCann said. "It's a bit different, it's point to point."

Those who are interested in car pooling can meet at the Montana Manor in Carcross at about 8:30 a.m.
