Katie Vanderstelt’s scorching start to her season has powered Hvactech Systems into first place in the local women’s rec hockey league.

The blue-jerseyed squad began the season with a four-game winning streak, the only blemish coming last Thursday, when Jill Pollack Co. downed them 4-1.

Vanderstelt kicked off her campaign with seven goals and three assists in the first five games, earning the early lead in Whitehorse Women’s Hockey Association scoring.

Hot on her heels are three Burnt Toast players – Brooklyn Pollard (three goals, four assists), Chase Blodgett (two goals, three assists) and Liz Eddy (five goals).

Black-jerseyed Burnt Toast is the defending league champions.

The six-team league’s season got underway Oct. 1, with Hvactech Systems downing North Star Mini Storage 8-2 behind a hat trick performance from Vanderstelt.

Action continues tonight with Burnt Toast taking on H&R Block and Cardinal Contracting battling Hvactech Systems.
