The outdoor tennis season hasn't officially begun yet, but fans of the sport living in the Yukon have a lot to look forward to for the upcoming year.

Important Tennis Yukon Dates:

Wednesdays, April 2 - May 21, 6-8 PM, drop-in tennis at Yukon College, $5 per player.

Sunday afternoons, March 30 - May 11, adult and junior lessons at Yukon College.

April 22: AGM, 7 p.m. at Macbride Museum.

May 9-11: tournament in Anchorage, adult and junior divisions

June 6-8 and June 13-15: Instructor certification course at the Mt. Mac courts.

Gerry Macken, a Level 3 coach from B.C. will be facilitating an instructor certification course.

Players must be at least 16 years old and should be a 3.5 level or above (see self-rating guide on www.tenniscanada.com).

Cost will be $150 and there is a 12 player maximum.

This is a fantastic opportunity. The course fee is about one third of the cost it would be down south, and there's no travel involved.
