Uniglobe Specialty Travel will attempt to upset number one ranked Sterling Insurance in this year's final of the Thursday Night Squash League.

Both teams recorded convincing wins in Thursday's semi-final, with Sterling Insurance winning by seven and Uniglobe by 10 points.

A new points system was introduced for the playoffs, which awarded points to the player that won a rally, regardless of whether or not he or she served.

Uniglobe Specialty Travel finished in the third place in the league's standings and on Thursday faced off against Northern Lights Optometry.

Kai Knorr was especially good for Uniglobe, beating Patti Flather in three straight games and finishing with six points.

Knorr, who is 13 years old, said the new points system was different than anything he was used to.

"It took a lot longer, but you get a better chance to come back because it's point per rally and it doesn't take much to come back," he said. "The games are definitely more intense and I thought it was better."

Tracy Pittman and Kelly Panchyshyn each scored six points for Uniglobe, while Leonard Linklater chipped in the team's remaining two.

Knorr admitted to being a little nervous heading into his first adult squash league final.

"I think we will do pretty well," he said. "First or second is pretty good and hopefully the rest of my team does good too."

Tracy Pittman and Kelly Panchyshyn each scored six points for Uniglobe, while Leonard Linklater chipped in the team's remaining two.

Joel Brannan scored five points for Northern Lights Optometry, while Flather, Zoe Walker and Loralee Martin combined for the rest.

Sterling Insurance 18, EMCO 11

Darrin Sinclair and Amy Leach scored six for Sterling Insurance, while Ronie-Sue Sparvier and Mark Beese combined for the team's remaining six.

Lara Trotter, Dallas Yeulett, Lisa Gudbranson and Randi Cave each contributed to EMCO's 11 points.
