Underhill qualifies for finals in Thursday squash league

Underhill will play for the Thursday Night Squash League title after beating Kumon Learning in a close semi finals playoff match.

Underhill will play for the Thursday Night Squash League title after beating Kumon Learning in a close semi finals playoff match.

Underhill, who finished third in the league's standings after the conclusion of the season on April 3, won by just four points.

The team will play Whitehorse Travel, who finished fourth in the standings, in Thursday's final.


Underhill 13, Kumon Learning 9

Charles Stuart put on a dominating performance for Underhill, scoring the maximum six points a player can be awarded in an individual match.

Eric Irvine, filling in for Zoe Walker, who is presently at the 2008 squash nationals, was also was invaluable to the team, scoring a total of five points.

Jeanette Carney contributed two points for Underhill in the victory.

Beth Ellis led the way for Kumon Learning, finishing with six points, while Marshall Ewing contributed two points in the loss.


Whitehorse Travel 15, Sterling Insurance 13

Amberley Wolfe and Marie Cairns scored 12 of Whitehorse Travel's 15 points to help the team defeat first place Sterling Insurance.

Roni-Sue Sparvier led the way for Sterling Insurance, finishing with six points.


Emco 17, Electrical Shop 7

Sophia Flather and Jen Meurer each notched six points for Emco in the victory.

Norah Mooney finished with three points for Electrical Shop.
