KEEPING AN EYE ON THE BALL – Last night at the Canada Games Centre, the Whitehorse Star took on Wintemute Electric in U-15 soccer. The final score was 11-8 for the Star. Ryan Burke was voted MVP for the winning team, and Julian Moore was named for Wintemute. The teams, along with two others in the division will play in this weekend's Toonie Tournament.

Whitehorse Minor Soccer is having its second Toonie Tournament this weekend, this time for the U-15 crowd at the Yukon College.

Whitehorse Minor Soccer is having its second Toonie Tournament this weekend, this time for the U-15 crowd at the Yukon College.

The players will take part in a round-robin format tournament starting on Friday and running to Sunday.

There will be four teams taking part this weekend. The tournament will kick off at 6:15 p.m. Friday with Locksmith Services taking on Energy North, and then at 7:45 p.m. Wintemute Electric will play the Whitehorse Star.

Further games are at 8:20 and 9:15 p.m. on Friday.

The tournament will continue with all teams playing each other at least once.

On Saturday the soccer action will resume starting at 1:30 p.m., with the final round-robin game being held at 3 p.m. The winners of the round robin will advance into the semi-final rounds starting at 6:45 p.m. and 9 p.m.

From that round the two winners will go on the the gold and silver medal game at 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, and the bronze medal and fourth placing game will be played between the two losing teams at 12 p.m.

Teams that place from third to first will get medals, and the fourth team's players will get a ribbon.

Awards will be given out after the final game.
