The event is sponsored by the Boreal Adventure Running Association and makes use of the trail system around the Long Lake area.

Other sponsors of the event include Coast Mountain Sports, Polar Swim Shop, Icycle sport and Philippe's Bicycle Shop. Registration can be done at all four stores.

In previous years, the triathlon has averaged around 30 participants. This year's registration fee is $20 per person, which includes a race garment of a pair of Sockguy unisex socks, which are valued at $15 each.

The registration fee also includes a post race BBQ as well as draw prizes, which are being donated by the event's sponsors.

One of the prizes includes a triathlon suit from the Polar Swim Shop, which is worth around $150.

The top finisher in each race category will also win a Long Lake Triathlon trophy. At this event, both team and individual categories will be offered for participants.

Sunday's race will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Long Lake boat launch area.

The first discipline will be a one-km swim, which will include participants swimming to the east end of the lake before turning around and swimming back to the boat launch.

The second challenge is a 15.5-km mountain bike race. The mountain bike segment features a few hills and eventually loops back to the boat launch area for the final portion of the triathlon.

The triathlon's running discipline is a total distance of six-km. It features two three -km loops that both start and end at the boat launch.
