Thursday's Mt. McIntyre ski report Trail report

Raven, Coyote, Whisky Jack and Lower Valley were groomed Wednesday.

By Whitehorse Star on December 11, 2009

Raven, Coyote, Whisky Jack and Lower Valley were groomed Wednesday. Classic is good on those trails. Skating may be slow and is not advised on Lower Valley beyond the Valley Link. Copper was groomed earlier in the week and is good for classic or skating to the Gravel Pit.

World Cup five-kilometre, Monique Waterreus, Chalet Trail, 7.5K, Powerline, Selwyn's Loop, Pierre Harvey and Upper Valley are still good for skating and classic. All lit trails are good.

Sarah Steele outer and blue loops are packed but more snow is needed to set a classic track. All other trails are fair to good with some dirt showing through. Rock skis are still advised. If skiing the World Cup 10K it is recommended to walk down the S-Bend.

McIntyre Ascent and Descent are good but there are drifted sections. Experienced skiers only should attempt the Ascent Trail. Take extra food and water and extra wind layers for the Descent. Always watch for snowmobiles on the Descent as it is a shared trail.

Skiers with dogs may park in the Mt McIntyre parking lot, Hamilton Boulevard parking area and at the Canada Games Centre. If parking at the Canada Games Centre, you are requested to stay to the left of the fencing in the stadium. Please use the plastic bags provided at trailheads and clean up after pets.
