In the scorching heat of Tuesday evening, 17 runners and walkers took part in the weekly Intersport 5 km Fun Run and Walk.

With many of the athletes having participated in last Sunday's Yukon River Trail Marathon, and with many of the regular runners and walkers away enjoying the dog days of summer, there was clearly a collective sense of fatique. That was reflected in the times that were a bit slower than normal.

Keith Thaxter (19:45), Harrison Kwok (19:55) and Doug Mayr (20:19) were the top three male runners.

Sheri Hogeboom (24:06), an avid member of the Whitehorse Cross Country Ski Club, was the first woman. Hogeboom was followed by Jesse Cebuliak (24:51) and Wendy Taylor (26:27).

Race walkers Arlene Ogden (38:49) and Tanya Astika (38:49) sprinted to the finish line, after cruising through the course at a moderate pace.
