The quest for women’s hockey supremacy in Whitehorse is on.

The top team in the Whitehorse Women’s Hockey Association will be decided with a championship final set for March 5 at 5:45 p.m. at the Canada Games Centre.

The regular season ended Feb. 18 with Jill Pollack Co. (white) downing H&R Block (green) 6-3.

Hvachtech Systems (blue) won the season title with a top record of 26-7-2. The team’s leading scorer, Katie Vanderstelt, also won the league scoring title, piling up 37 goals and 22 assists for 59 points in 30 games.

Following the first round of playoff action, Hvactech Systems and season runner-up H&R Block have each earned a semifinal berth, set for March 1.

As of tonight, each of Jill Pollack Co., Burnt Toast (black), Cardinal Contracting (red) and North Star Mini Storage (gold) are still alive in the double-elimination playoff tournament.

Burnt Toast is the defending champions of the six-team league.

Many league players will break from the action this weekend to take part in the women’s division of the Yukon Sourdough Rendezvous Hockey Tournament.

Men’s teams will also compete for two division titles.
