Cross Country Yukon is pleased to announce that the following skiers will be representing the Yukon, at the Besh Cup races this weekend in Anchorage, Alaska.

Bryn Knight, David Greer, Janelle Greer, John Parry, Heather Enders, Nansen Murray, Sara Murray, Colin Abbott, Brittany Smith, Logan Potter, Ziggy Reimer and Liam Kiemele are the athlete who will make the trip to Anchorage.

Head coach Alain Masson will be leading the team , assisted by coaches Sara Nielsen and Dan Reimer.

The Besh Cup races are a series of events held in Alaska, in a ski division which is one of the strongest in the U.S.

For Yukon skiers, it provides a great opportunity for promising young athletes to be exposed to racing in their age categories, at a level which will provide them an appropriate challenge.

Tina Sutherland, high performance chair of Cross Country Yukon, is confident that the athletes will perform well.

'Some of our athletes have just returned from racing recently in Canmore, Alberta, and then were fortunate enough to see Beckie Scott and Sara Renner race to their gold and bronze medals in the sprints, and to watch other world class skiers participate in the Canada Cup races held last weekend in Sovereign Lakes, British Columbia,' explained Sutherland.

'I think Beckie and Sara's results have inspired so many skiers. As well, with all of the training hours our athletes have put in over the summer and fall, and their work with a sports psychologist, it will really pay off in Alaska.'

The team will be starting the road trip to Anchorage today, arriving in time to check out the race site on Friday before racing on Saturday and Sunday.
