A promising weekend for Team Koltun at the Spruce Grove Cashspiel in Alberta was cut short in Sunday's quarter-final.

Sarah Koltun's women's rink lost 7-6 to Casey Scheidegger's Alberta rink after giving up four points in the sixth end.

The Yukon rink battled back, scoring deuces in the seventh and eighth ends, but simply ran out of time.

Koltun and her teammates – Chelsea Duncan, Patty Wallingham and Andrea Sinclair – had rapped off three straight wins to start their tournament. The rink earned $725 for their finish.

Whitehorse native Thomas Scoffin also competed in the bonspiel with his University of Alberta junior rink, but dropped his semifinal game 10-1 to fellow U of A skip and eventual champion Brendan Bottcher Sunday.

Scoffin's rink picked up $1,200 for its efforts.
