Rennes Lindsay earned a silver medal and Hannah Kingscote broke a club record at the AAA swim championships in Victoria last weekend.

The B.C. event was held March 3 to 6, with Cassis Lindsay – Rennes’ older sister – also impressing.

When the dust settled, Rennes Lindsay won silver in the 400 free while Kingscote broke a Whitehorse Glacier Bears record in the 100 back for 13- to 14-year-old girls – previously held by Cassis Lindsay – with a time of 1:07.28.

The swim qualified Kingscote for the national age group championships this summer.

Rennes Lindsay’s silver medal swim was completed in 4:34.00 – also qualifying her for age group nationals.

Together, the three girls qualified for nine A finals and four B finals.

Kingscote’s top performance was indeed the 100 back, where she placed sixth overall, while Cassis Lindsay picked up a pair of sixth overall finishes in the 50 free and 100 free.

Kingscote and the younger Lindsay also shared a friendly rivalry in the 50 fly, in which they swam the same heat.

Rennes Lindsay eventually out-raced Kingscote by an entire .01 of a second, as the duo finished eighth and ninth.
