Strong performances from Yukon AWG curling teams
Members on both Yukon curling teams showed off their talent throughout the course of the week at the Arctic Winter Games in Yellowknife.

Each team finished with an incredible 3-1 record in round robin competition and went on to qualify for the gold medal game, played on Friday.
The Yukon's junior male team ended up winning the gold, beating Team Northern Alberta by a score of 11-6.
The girls team also did extremely well, but just fell short of winning the gold, losing to Northern Alberta by a very close score of 10-9.
The Yukon boys got off to a great start at the Games, beating Team Alaska by a score of 8-5.
In its next contest, Team Yukon faced off against a very strong Northern Alberta rink, who ended up winning the contest by a score of 8-3. The Yukon boys weren't fazed by the loss and came right back in their next game against Nunavut, winning by a commanding score of 12-2.
The game against Nunavut was highlighted by an incredible five point sixth end in favour of the Team Yukon. In their final round robin contest, the team beat the N.W.T. 9-4.
After losing to Northern Alberta 6-5, in an extra end, in a game that would have automatically qualified them for the gold medal game, the team was forced to play one more match against N.W.T. for a spot in the final.
Team Yukon won the game against the N.W.T. 6-5 and then went on to beat Northern Alberta in the final to capture the gold medal.
The Yukon girls began the tournament with a 9-6 loss against Northern Alberta, but the team rebounded in the next contest against the N.W.T. Team Yukon won its second game 8-7 and then went on to win its next two games to conclude the round robin.
The first game was against Alaska, whom they beat 8-5. The final round robin game was against Nunavut, whom they defeated 10-2.
The girls won their first playoff match 6-3 against the N.W.T. before losing to Northern Alberta in the final.
"Our goal going into this was to win a medal," said junior female coach Lindsay Moldowan. "They are pretty happy that they are going home with the silver medal."
