Jason Steele was in sublime form Saturday for Klondike Business Solutions in over 35 soccer action, making a real difference as he led the team to a 8-4 win over Yukon Info.com.

Steele cut an imposing figure in the middle of the park, constantly thwarting Yukon Info’s attacks and grabbing a goal for himself. He was helped by double reigning golden boot winner Eric Murphy who hammed in four goals, proving again that he is the best striker in the league. David Rayo scored two for KBS and Adil Khalik collecting a single.

For Yukon Info, JP Ladroue scored twice and David Strachan and Ben Mercier each scored, as they stayed with KBS right until the end, when KBS moved into another gear.

Pepsi starting to fizz

In a fast paced game at the Canada Games Centre, Pepsi outlasted Yukon Brewing 3-2 in the second game of the day.

The Brew started well as Jim Brown, back from his success in the Berlin Marathon, and Mark O’Brien both got on the scoresheet. But as Pepsi’s bigger bench started to make a difference, Pepsi dragged themselves back into the game.

They equalized twice before they claimed the winner at the end. Pepsi were thankful for veteran Simon Pulido, young gun Myles Dolphin and toe poke specialist Guliano Rayo for the goals in an entertaining victory.
