Sports North, Alkan Air settle for 5-5 draw in rec hockey action

Terry Jackson potted a pair of goals for Sports North as they tied Alkan Air 5-5 in Whitehorse Recreational Hockey League action Sunday.

Terry Slonski added a goal and two assists for Sports North while Colin Dawe and Derrick Hynes also scored. Rob Hill finished with two assists.

Dean Faragher, Peter Mostyn and Brent Mekelburg each picked up a goal and an assist for Alkan while Darnell Kiriak and Nathan Bingham also hit the twine. Joel Witten was credited with a pair of helpers.

Environmental Dynamics 3

Narrow Gauge Contracting 3

Steve Smith, Dave Richard and Jeremey Hookham provided the offence for Environmental Dynamics as they skated to a deadlock with Narrow Gauge Contracting.

Dan Macdonald, Phillip Harry and Alex Vautour replied for Narrow Gauge. Macdonald also grabbed an assist.

Yukon Appliance Blues 5

Kluane Drillers 3

Scoring came from all corners for the Yukon Appliance Blues as they downed the Kluane Drillers.

Thom Minard and Joe Martin each collected a goal and an assist for the Blues while Eric Kositsin, Cary Goodman and Ken Anderson tacked on the additional markers. Jason Berkers and Tony Radford each claimed two assists while Curtis Goodman and Eric Hendricks each had one helper.

The scoring for the Kluane Drillers was not available.

Cinderwood Canucks 10

Boston Pizza 5

Ben Wondga was on fire for the Cinderwood Canucks, notching five goals and an assist, as his team burned Boston Pizza.

Martin Lawrie added a pair of goals for the Canucks while Ian Kuster contributed a goal and three assists. Jeff O'Farhell posted a goal and an assist while Frank Aucoin had three assists and Gord Peterson, Mark King and Jay Glass each finishd with two helpers.

The scoring for Boston Pizza was not available.

Environmental Dynamics 5

Dean Faragher led Alkan Air with three goals and an assist as they defeated Environmental Dynamics.

Brent Mekelburg and Peter Mostyn each tacked on a goal and two assists for Alkan while Darnell Kiriak had a goal and one helper. Brent Byers also scored.

Air North Jets 10

Alwarid & Associates 6

Willy McKenna had a huge game for the Air North Jets, netting four goals and two assists, as his team flew past Alwarid & Associates.

Ryan Kinney added a pair of goals and six assists for the Jets while Gerry Grant recorded two goals and two assists. Greg Charlie chipped in two goals and one helper while Sam Oettli and Darius Elias each had one assist.

Sean Eyding picked up three goals and two assists for A&A. Blayne Monahan tacked on two goals and two assists while A.J. Beacon and Matt Ordish each claimed a pair of helpers. Goaltender Mike Buxton-Carr and Colin Nash each had one assist.

Friday's Results

Southern Tutchone Storm 11

Air North Jets 7

Scott Horsey continued to dominate the offensive standings this season, grabbing six goals and an assist for the Southern Tutchone Storm, as they grounded the Air North Jets.

Matt Horsey added a pair of goals and five assists for the Storm while Tim McIntosh collected a goal and four assists. Shawk Kolak and Jeremy Miller each had a goal and one helper while Jesse Craig was awarded four assists. Scott Hume posted two assists while Warren Strand had one.

Ryan Kinney and Gerry Grant replied for Air North, each notching a pair of goals and an assist. Shawn Kinsella claimed a goal and two assists while Willy McKenna netted a goal and one helper.

Jeff Foster finished with two assists while Darius Elias had one assist.

Kluane Drillers 11

Kopper Kings 7

Andrew Zink and Doug Roberts recorded hat tricks for the Kluane Drillers as they overpowered the Kopper Kings.

Tyler Murray added two goals and an assist for the Drillers while Duane Shewfelt grabbed a goal and two assists. Rob Pitzel was credited with a goal and an assist while Mark Daniels also found the back of the net.

Ed Vanderkely had three assists while Dan Murray, Bud Arnold, Eric Magnuson and Craig Hamption were each awarded one helper.

Larry Daigneault led the Kings with a pair of goals and a pair of assists. Ben Cole and Jordan Johnston each tacked on two goals and one assist while Ryan MacKenzie posted a goal and four helpers. Dan Cole had an assist.

Boston Pizza 12

Yukon Appliance Blues 4

Mike Young led the offensive attack for Boston Pizza, scoring four goals and adding three assists, as they destroyed the Yukon Appliance Blues.

Nelson Turnbull and Derek Johnstone potted two goals apiece for BP while Trevor Twardochleb, Bryan Curial, Ron Servatius and Lance Brown also lit the lamp.

Eric Kositsin picked up a hat trick for the Blues while Joe Martin added a single.

Kopper Kings 11

Narrow Gauge Contracting 6

Ben Cole collected three goals and three assists for the Kopper Kings as they conquered Narrow Gauge Contracting.

Ryan MacKenzie, Dan Crawford and John Van Langen tacked on two goals apiece while Larry Daigneault and Dan Cole also hit the twine.

Alex Vautour, Phillip Harry, Dan Macdonald, Jon Preston, Matt Hall and Byron Gilday hit the scoresheet for Narrow Gauge.
