Sport Yukon members dole out awards
The show must go on.
The show must go on. Despite being unable to gather, the territory’s dedicated athletes, coaches and volunteers were recognized during the Sport Yukon 45th Annual Member Awards on Thursday evening.
The usual banquet held at Coast High Country Inn was a no-go because of COVID-19, so like so many events, sports or not, the Member Awards were presented virtually via a slideshow on Sport Yukon’s website and social media platforms.
Before the slideshow, the honourees were treated to a short video call by Sport Yukon board members, Tracey Bilsky,
George Arcand, Alain Masson, Marg White and Dan Poelman. Minister of Community Services, John Streicker, also made a cameo to recognize the award-winners accomplishments.
“To all of you, sorry that we can’t be there in person,” said Streicker who was first on screen in a Team Yukon jacket. “I want to give a shoutout for all you are doing to keep us healthy and active over the past year.”
Bilsky said because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was important to recognized the achievements of the Yukon’s athletes.
“2020 has been a challenging year so we believe it is even more important to celebrate athletes, coaches, and volunteers in our territory,” she said. “We would like to thank all our member organizations and all the award winners this year.”

For Athletics Yukon, you just list two Snowshoers. That can't be right, surely.

Dylan Cozens was awarded Yukon’s International Male Athlete of the Year in the spring of 2020. These particular awards are decided upon by each organization. Yukon Hockey did not submit awards this year.

No mention of hockey or sadly Dylan Cozens...you do know he went 5th overall in The NHL...not a university but The NHL. My lord. Hard to compete with the skiers and snow shoers lol.
