There could be a delightful surprise when the Whitehorse Chamber of Commerce wraps up the guest list for its regular luncheon during the week leading up to Hockey Day in Canada.

Chamber chair Gerrard Fleming told members at Tuesday's monthly luncheon that CBC National host Peter Mansbridge is scheduled to be there.

Hockey Night in Canada commentators Scott Oak and Kelly Hrudey – the former NHL goalie of 14 seasons, will be there.

"And we are in the process of confirming a very special guest, and if he confirms, we could have one of the most exciting luncheons ever,” said Fleming, who wasn't giving out hints. "I am sure nobody will want to miss this.”

He told chamber members Hockey Day in Canada is probably the most exciting event for Whitehorse since the 2007 Canada Winter Games.

"I'm sure I do not have to remind anyone of the benefits Hockey Day in Canada will bring to Whitehorse,” Fleming said.

The Hockey Day in Canada week runs from Feb. 7 to 12. Numerous events have been planned.
