Southern Tutchone pounds Alcan Air 15-1 in rec hockey

In was an exciting weekend in hockey action in Whitehorse recreational hockey.

Saturday saw Narrow Gauge Contracting defeat Kluane Drillers by a score of 5 to 4.

Scoring for Narrow Gauge were Adrian Bergman, with 2 goals and 1 assist, and Jon Preston, who picked up 1 goal and 2 assists. Phillip Harry picked up 1 goal, as did Dan MacDonald. Byron Gilday also helped out, picking up two assists.

For the Drillers, Edwin Vanderkley had 1 goal and 1 assist and Tyler Murray, Duane Shewfelt and Rob Pitzel each picked up 1 goal.

Also on Saturday:

Southern Tutchone 15, Alkan Air 1

Scoring for Tutchone were Ryan Gleason, who hit the back of the net 5 times with another 2 assists, and Matt Horsey, with 2 goals and 3 assists.

Cody Joe had 2 goals and 1 assist, while Shawn Kolak had 2 goals and 2 assists, Tim McIntosh had 2 goals, and Scott Horsey picked up 1 goal and 1 assist, as did Kevin Smith, and Warren Strand picked up 3 assists. The lone goal for Alkan Air was scored by Ron Limoges.

In Sunday's hockey action. it was:

Environmental Dynamics 6,

Kopper Kings 3

Pat Tobler had a big day, picking up a hat trick, with Andy Conners, Jay Derkster and Dan Beaudoin each picking up 1 goal.

For Kopper King, Ryan Mackenzie hit the back of the net twice, Josh Clark picked up 1 goal and Larry Daigneault had two assists.

Alwarid and Associates 7, Alkan Air 4

Al Beacon picked up 2 goals and 2 assists, Matthew Ordish hit the twine once and also picked up 2 assists, David Larkin had a goal and an assist, Yassin Alwarid had a goal, Marchel Barralt picked up 2 goals, Darrell Sturko showed his playmaking abilities by picking up 6 assists and Colin Nash had 2 assists of his own.

For Alkan Air, Dean Faragher picked up 2 goals, Brent MeKelburg had 1 goal and 1 assist. Details on Alkan's fourth goal were not available.

Boston Pizza 10,

Cinderwood Canucks 8

In a high-scoring game, Boston Pizza (BP) edged out the Canucks, with BP's Barry Blisner picking up 3 goals and 3 assists, Lance Brown and Mike Young each picking up 2 goals and 1 assist, Derek Johnstone had 1 goal and 3 assists, Dean Mastrangelo had 1 of each, as did Bryan Curial, and Nelson Turnbull picked up 2 assists.

For the Canucks, it was Ian Kuster with 2 goals and 2 assists, Martin Lawrie with 2 goals, Jay Glass with 1 goal and 2 assists, Frank Acoin with 1, Gord Peterson with 2 assists and Kirk Gale also had 2 assists.

Air North 4, Sports North 4

In a dead heat, Air North and Sports North played to a draw. Picking up the points for Air North was Gerry Grant with 2 goals and 1 assist, Willy McKenna with 1 goal and 1 assist, Ben Harper had 1 goal and David Birss had 2 assists.

For Sports North, it was Wade Hanna, Darrell Pasloski, Kevin Olson and Rick Olson with 1 goal each and Linus Fraser with 2 assists.
