Nine skippers from the Takhini Heartbeaters club in Whitehorse competed at the B.C./Yukon provincial championships in Nelson, B.C. last weekend.

Divided into two teams, they competed in 12 events and many personal bests were accomplished. The mainstream team, or Party of 5, consisted of Erin Borgford, Taylor Forsgren, Rebecca Dunstan, Karen James and Alexandra Schultz.

Stephanie Lane, Tamara Greek, Daisy Walker and Scott James made up the rookie team, also known as Leaping Lizards.

The teams were coached by Judy Ratcliffe and Christine Borgford.

After finishing fifth overall in the mainstream competition, Yukon's Party of 5 qualified for the national skipping championships, which will be held in Montreal in May.

Equally impressive was the results of Forsgren in the individual competition, as she picked up one second-place finish in triple unders action, a third-place finish in the single free event and was third overall.
