Mount Sima will be back to full operations beginning tomorrow.

Electrical Engineers, lift manufacturers and on-site mechanics have confirmed that

the Sima chair lift is back in excellent working order after the team determined that a faulty electrical connection was the cause of last weekend's interrupted power supply to the lift.

This issue is unrelated to the previous shutdown.

While Mt Sima has enjoyed record snow fall and beautiful snow conditions this year, a combination of extreme cold weather and the electrical issue kept the hill from full operation the last few days of the Christmas season.

"We have had two separate electrical issues that were not related to each other,” said Craig Hougen, Sima's president.

"They occurred in succession and the timing of those problems could not have been worse. It is important to note that these problems were the result of normal wear and tear. In both cases the problems were located, and the problem resolved.”

As stated in the past, Sima will not operate the lifts at the hill under any circumstances unless it's absolutely safe to do so.

Sima's management and technicians have been test-running the lift since the electrical issue was resolved on Sunday night and are pleased to report that all systems are operating normally.

Due to cold weather temperatures over the holidays and the unfortunate 5-day closure of the chair lift, Sima plans to extend the weekly schedule – from Thursday through Monday – beginning Feb. 7 until March Break.

Sima will also be extending daily hours of operation to 3:30 p.m. to maximize increasing daylight hours.
