Seventh degree black belt in Whitehorse for judo clinic

Sensei John Huntley from Kamloops, B.C. is in Whitehorse tonight and throughout the weekend to teach a variety of techniques and topics to Whitehorse's many judo students.

Sensei John Huntley from Kamloops, B.C. is in Whitehorse tonight and throughout the weekend to teach a variety of techniques and topics to Whitehorse's many judo students.

Huntley will hold his first clinic tonight starting at 6:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. at Vanier Catholic Secondary School. On Sunday he will hold two, starting at 12 p.m. and again from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Huntley is Judo Yukon's Technical Advisor.

The cost will be $30 for a manual and mat training sessions.

Huntley will work with students on topics including warm-up activities (solo and partner) using training aids, ukemi concepts (koho), ukemi concepts (yoko), ukemi concepts (zempo-kaiten), ne-waza concepts and drills (osae-waza), ne-waza concepts and drills (kansetsu-waza), ne-waza concepts and drills (shime-waza) tachi-waza concepts and drills (tachi and sutemi) and gripping and transition drills.
