Senator's Ball raises $7,500

The 2010 Northwestel Senator's Ball raised $7,500 for Special Olympics Yukon.

The 2010 Northwestel Senator's Ball raised $7,500 for Special Olympics Yukon.

The formal event, hosted by Yukon senator Dan Lang, took place Oct. 23 in the Fireside Room of the Yukon Inn.

Special guests included former head coach of the Montreal Canadiens 1993

Stanley Cup winning team Jacques Demers, Special Olympics athlete Gaetan Michaud, 1996 Olympic silver medalist and Special Olympics coach Christine Larsen, president and CEO for Northwestel Paul Flaherty, senator Jim Munson and Special Olympics Canada chairman Neil Glasberg.

The previous day, Special Olympics Yukon hosted the first ever Senator's Special Olympics Challenge, an exhibition soccer match that featured Demers, Lang, Munson, Glasberg and Special Olympics Yukon president James Tucker acting as honorary coaches for the Special Olympics Yukon athletes taking part in the match at the Canada Games Centre.
