Last Sunday marked the season ending SKS and 3 Gun Tactical Shoot were held at the Whitehorse Rifle and Pistol Club on Grey Mountain Road.

By lunch time the SKS winners were smiling after having demonstrated their skill in taking out a variety of interesting targets with their 7.62 X .39 calibre carbines.

Targets varied from pop can bottoms at 200 feet with open sites, oranges at 300 feet and eggs moving ever so slightly, suspended by strings, at the 100 foot rail of the centre fire rifle range.

Points were awarded based on the number of targets that were successfully hit. Honours go to Geoff Fletcher, who finished in first place, while Bruce McWorter came in second and tied for third place were Len Andre and Folkie Johnson.

The drizzling, rainy afternoon didn't stop the 3 Gun Tactical crew from knocking over heavy metal plates, and ventilating the black tactical targets, using handgun, shotgun and rifle in several timed events.

In case you thought that sounded pretty easy, try getting six shots from your handgun into an eight inch paper plate target, moving across the field 25 feet away.

And to increase the pressure, scoring is based on the number of shots on the target plus time penalties for each target that is left standing on the final match.

First place honours went to Len Andre, while Brendon Haney locked down second and Doug Trombley rounded out the top three. Dan Nickason placed fourth overall

Many thanks to Lister Motor Sports, A-1 Autobody, Bob Gun Works, Bruce McWorter, Geoff Fletcher, and Len Andre for provision of prizes

Weather permitting, there will be a Just for Fun 3 Gun Tactical Shoot Sunday Oct. 19, starting at noon.

For more details contact Len Andre at 633-6094.
