The Yukon Energy Haeckel Hill Run was held Saturday in Whitehorse.

The race started on the road by Icy Waters, off the Fish Lake Road, and climbed 7.2 kilometres to the top of Haeckel Hill.

Twenty-five runners and walkers took in the event, with temperatures much colder than usual. However, both the runners and walkers found the cool temperatures great for the ascent up the hill. The first runner up to the top was Ray Sabo, with a time of 39 minutes and three seconds. The first female up the hill was Angela Sabo, with a time of 52:29.

Athletics Yukon would like to thank Yukon Energy for sponsoring the event, as well as volunteers Margaret Mundell, Tanya Astika, Jeanette Van Esbroeck, Roger and Kirsten Hulstein.
