Road hockey league prepares for playoffs

The first ever Yukon Road Hockey League (YRHL) heads into the playoffs tonight, with four teams vying for the first championship title.

The first ever Yukon Road Hockey League (YRHL) heads into the playoffs tonight, with four teams vying for the first championship title.

It's been an exciting season so far, with Aurora Construction leading the way into the playoffs in the top spot with 13 points and six games won.

Joining Aurora in the playoffs will be Skookum, with 12 points and six games won, Holm's Mechanical, tied with 12 points and six games won and ORC with 12 points and five games won.

In the final week of games from June 22 to 27, the teams faced off for high-scoring thrills with last place team Thomas Contracting earning their first win of the season in a 21-8 routing of the Kopper King. Each team earned a point for the match-up.

Aurora Contsruction just barely clinched a win against the Kopper King last week, with a final score of 12-11.

The YRHL playoffs begin tonight in Crestview at 6 p.m., and continue until July 7 with the gold medal game.
