Registration is underway for the 14th Annual Whitehorse Fun Triathlon.
The triathlon will take place June 5 beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Canada Games Centre.
Registration began May 7 and will conclude May 27 at 5 p.m.
Mayor Bev Buckway said the event is a major boost for the city.
"The Fun Triathlon has proven to be one of the most popular athletic events in our community and the city is proud to once again offer this opportunity,” Buckway said.
"This event is part of the city's ongoing commitment to health and wellness and I encourage everyone to participate.”
There are two separate events including the Olympic event, which includes a 1,500-metre swim, a 40-kilometre cycle and a 10-km run, or the sprint distance, which consists of half of the Olympic distances in each event.
People interested in registering for the event can visit the Canada Games Centre or call 668-8360.
Registrants must be 15 years or older for the sprint distance event and 18 years or older for the Olympic event.
Fitness specialist Eliza Pahl said the event provides many possibilities.
"This triathlon offers an opportunity for people to participate alone or in a team and is a great way to challenge yourself,” Phal said. "Last year, we had over 100 participants, including 59 in the sprint event and 46 in the Olympic event, and this year we're hoping for more.”
